sung by the dwsChorale
Early, bright, transient,
chaste as the morning dew,
she sparkled,
was exhaled, and went to heaven.
Taken from the Poem "Night Thoughts" by Edward Young (1683 - 1765)

This moving setting of this poem, composed in memory of a stillborn child, is remarkable in its sparing use of just three solo voices to conjure up a whole world of grief mixed with fond but brief memory.
The original setting is for SSA and will shortly be performed live in that combination.
The dwsChorale has sung it here in his studio a fourth down, with the composer's approval.
