Story behind the piece:
This was written in reponse to an organist - based in Hoechst, near Frankfurt, who thought I should be more adventurous in my composing (this was back in 1976)...
Well, I was...
The title of course is a pun on the town of Hoechst and the word "höchst" which means "extremely"
ie the title means "extremely complicated prelude". . . .
The mp3 file here has an added cello part, which doesn't appear in the score, just to knit the complexity together a bit more . . . .
