Story behind the piece:
Written for Burkhard Mohr on his suggestion: he sent me a German Hungarian hymn on which to base the variations: "Du schöner Lebensbaum des Paradieses, gütiger Jesu, Gottes Lamm auf Erden. Du bist der wahre Retter unsres Lebens, unser Befreier" I took the original melody and wove some whole tone and other modal harmonies around it. Ronald Frost performed the piece and the full recording and score are available at Musik Fabrik
